Breakout Sessions

11:15am (45 Minutes)
  1. Main Auditorium | Yvonne Swinth | Special Needs Ministry at Your Church
    • In this session, we will discuss how to meet the needs of all children and youth in our programs. This will include how to adapt the classroom and the curriculum to address the needs of those with trauma, autism, physical disabilities, and psychosocial needs.
  2. 205 | Jared Cooksey | Don’t lead on Empty
    • We love to serve others. That’s why we do what we do! But we only have so much to give before we are empty. We can’t lead well for long when we are running empty in our mental, physical, and spiritual health. It’s not selfish to take care of ourselves; in fact, it’s vital!
  3. 206 | Billy Massey/Dalton Beaty | Kid Min. To Youth Min.: Creating a Healthy Transition
    • Building a bridge to help children transition from 5th/6th grade into middle school youth ministry can be an exciting and successful move-up process spiritually, developmentally, and socially.
  4. 207 | Dan Metteer | Help! I’m leading a staff!
    • Looking to bring on paid staff to your ministry team? Wondering if you are giving them everything, they need to be successful? Join in this thoughtful and inspiring conversation about hiring and leading ministry staff.
  5. 208 | Corrine Booth | Coming Back to the Heart of Worship
    • Worship within Kids Ministry can often feel like an item on a task list that we just need to click "complete." The second this culture and mentality shifts, you'll notice the ripple effect throughout your entire ministry. How is this done? In this breakout, we'll discuss starting with prayer and dedication, teaching the "what and why", creating an engaging environment, and leading by example. When your kid's ministry comes back to the heart of worship, you'll notice the difference in buy-in from your team and your kids, as well as the door it opens for the Holy Spirit to move.
  6. Kids Auditorium | Doug Harkness | Communication Keys for Marketing your Ministry
    • Why did nobody show up to my awesome event? Where should I be promoting my ministry? How do I grow my volunteer team? Find answers to these questions and more as we unpack this concept of "marketing your ministry". We will discuss tools and methods to help you grow your team and expand your reach into the community, and there will be time for Q&A.
1:30Pm (45 Minutes)
  1. 205 | Jared Cooksey | Helping kids Navigate Grief and Loss
    • We all experience grief, and usually, other people's grief makes us uncomfortable. It’s not uncommon for us to try to have all the answers when others navigate loss, and then we end up saying something true but not helpful. Other times, we avoid the situation altogether. With kids, it’s no different. Kids need a safe way to process their grief and the church can help!
  2. 208 | Gary Modine | Impacting Families, Students, and Staff in your Public Schools
    • Discover many reasons and many different ways the people of your church can make a massive impact in your local schools. Hear the amazing story of what is happening with dozens of churches and the Yakima School District and learn what worked and didn’t work for them.  Additionally, come prepared to share your own best practices and what you are learning in your own community.
  3. 207 | Stacy Caalim/Chantel Rohr | Early Childhood Frequently Asked Questions
    • Do you find yourself with a lot of questions about early childhood (birth-K)? Join us as we open up the discussion to some of the most frequent questions asked for Early Childhood. It will be a safe place to get answers to some of your questions and share wisdom and insight you may also be able to provide to others.
  4. 206 | Jenni Waldron | Preparing for What’s NEXT
    • Is what you are doing now what you will always do? Is there a future that looks different than your present? Here's what I know: God is always preparing us for something. How can we learn to let go of the past, stay faithful in the present, and be ready for the future all at once? This breakout will explore the 3 things we need NOW to prepare for what's NEXT.
  5. Kids Auditorium | Dan Metteer| Dating Principles of Recruitment
    • Looking to bring on paid staff to your ministry team? Wondering if you are giving them everything they need to be successful? Join in this thoughtful and inspiring conversation about hiring and leading ministry staff.
